EMPIRE for Parks & Recreation Sports Fields

Testimonials

“We put EMPIRE Zoysia in two of our theme parks in Orlando, and it’s doing great. The grass is visually appealing and it holds up well to the traffic. We’re very pleased.”

  • Durable
  • Creates a thick, green lawn
  • Lower Maintenance Needs
  • If you are creating or renovating a park, commercial area or other pedestrian-popular area, you should take a good look at EMPIRE Zoysia. One of the hardiest of zoysiagrasses, EMPIRE offers the durability and adaptability you need, along with the soft texture and pleasing color that your site visitors and residents appreciate.

EMPIRE thrives in heat and humidity, yet also offers faster spring greenup and longer fall color retention than many other turfgrasses found across the southern U.S.; and its cold tolerance is also very good. This versatile grass will quickly establish and thrive in sand, sandy loam, clay, or muck. Rapid prostrate growth means that damages will be more quickly covered over and repaired than with slower-growing grasses.

Although EMPIRE also offers a softer texture and unique blue green color, it is its lower maintenance needs that will convince you of its long-term viability. EMPIRE’s slightly slower vertical growth means it can go as long as 9-10 days without mowing (recommended mowing height 1-2 “); and it needs fewer fertilizer inputs to maintain good color. Best of all, EMPIRE’s needs less water than St. Augusinegrasses and many other zoysias. Its unique dormancy mechanism will cause it to “brown out” (go dormant) during dry periods; vitality and color return when rainfall or irrigation resume.

EMPIRE is ideal for park, play, and commercial areas.
